Visayan is the language of Central Cebu
Between Filipinos there is a lot of discussion going on about the question of what the Philippine national language should be. All Filipino languages and there are about 80 different ones, belong to the Malayo-Polynesian language family. Today measured in numbers, the group speaking Visayan is the largest. Visayan is the language of the central Philippines with Cebu as main cultural center. The second largest group is the Tagalog speaking group. They are mainly located in main Island Luzon. Rivalry between the two groups is substantial, many Visayan speaking people simply refuse to speak Tagalog. The official rule in the use of language is that there are four official languages: English, Tagalog, Spanish, and the local main language. Each of them is allowed to be used in court.
